MDA and Mitchell Promotions Sign 2nd Player; Dean Winstanley

MDA Promotions are proud to announce that they, along with partners Mitchell Promotions, have signed a second PDC Darts professional under their darts management banner.

Joining World no. 22 Justin Pipe, is the recent high profile BDO ‘switcher’, Dean ‘over the top’ Winstanley.

Winstanley has just joined the PDC, after a successful time in the BDO – he was one of the top seeded favourites to win the Lakeside this year, and many in the game are tipping him for big things within the elite PDC ranks.

“After a fantastic 3 years learning the trade on the BDO circuit, I made the decision to enter the PDC qualifying school this year. I was offered a tour card last year but turned it down as I did not feel ready and to a certain degree it didnt feel right to take the tour card without earning it through Q school. If I was to take the step then I didnt want an easy ride and I didnt get one!! Thursdays and fridays qs were a wake up call and although playing well I didnt really get into gear. Saturday was different and Im proud to announce that I am now in posession of a PDC tour card. I have good people around me, I have financial backing both from sponsors and from my own earnings on the BDO circuit so the foundations are in place to acheive the initial goal of competing in every players champonship this year. If my form holds then there is an excellent chance of reaching the next goal which is the PDC World Championships. I am looking forward to meeting new players and officials plus experiencing new venues and atmospheres. I have proved myself on both BDO and PDC stages already so I am not daunted by the future at all.” – Dean Winstanley

Dean will kick off his PDC career at the first pro tour event of the year, in sunny Benidorm this weekend, joining his new stablemate Justin Pipe on the tour.

Dean is a class player, who has made the Lakeside and World Masters finals while in the BDO.  He has the game to follow in Dave Chisnall’s footsteps by making a real splash in the PDC in his first year.  His three days at the Q School recently has prepared him well for playing in the professional PDC circuit, which all starts this weekend in Benidorm” – Matt Ward, MDA Promotions.

We are pleased to be able to announce that the MDA Darts Shop has now opened, where we will see unique and exclusive darts memorabilia and collectables.

On Friday 2nd Sept 2011, MDA Promotions put on a fantastic night of darts at the Heritage Hotel in Derby, with some 450 darts fans joining the fun.

Four top professionals of the game were there to take on four local qualifiers – a battle of epic darting proportions.

Top darts MC Paul Booth introduced Colin Osborne, Ted Hankey, Gary Anderson, and Raymond van Barneveld to the lively audience, and tungsten war ensued.

In a little ‘Brucie bonus’, MDA promotions surprised the rapt audience with a guest professional, none other than 3 times world champion John Part.  A very lucky punter in the crowd won a auction to play John in a single leg of darts, and in fact gave him a good run for his money!

MDA sponsored PDC Professional Justin Pipe also made an appearance, showing the audience some of the tungsten magic he is becoming known for, beating fellow pro Matt Padgett 3-1, while averaging just over 101.

While the action never stopped on the main stage, the fans were also treated to many other PDC darts professionals arriving through the evening for a beer and a chat.  Players such as Mark Walsh, Richie Burnett, Adrian Grey, and Steve Maish freely mingled with the audience, all posing for photo’s and signing autographs.

The night was won by Raymond van Barneveld, who checked out a massive 170 in the final leg to beat local favourite Colin Osborne – a great night of darts which went down a storm with the fans, many came away with signed photo’s, autographs, and great memories of the night.

Phil Taylor night a HUGE Success!!!

Phil Taylor wowed the crowds at MDA Promotion’s latest exhibition on June 10th, 2010.

A crowd of 400+ squeezed into Ibstock Working Mens Club to witness “The Power” shoot a 121 three dart average over 10 legs, which included 2 legs of 10 darts and 3 legs of 12 darts.  He did not have it all his own way though, as one of the sponsors, Babystyle’s Andy Crane shot out on 115 in the very first leg to beat Taylor!

Snooker ace Mark Selby joined in the fun alongside Leicester’s Jamie Caven taking on members of the audience and each other.  Jamie won the head to head 2-0, and then toppled Phil Taylor 3-0 include a 132 checkout in the last leg.

A 300 strong crowd attended MDA promotions event “Bad Boys 3″ in Ciros nightclub Ashby de la Zouch.

All three pros were joined by Nigel Heydon who took part in the main event head to head against Ted Hankey

A special guest appearance from world number 9 Mark Walsh was another suprise for the crowd.
