Stuart Kellett Hopes to ‘KO’ Manager Clifton Mitchell

Stuart Kellett Hopes to ‘KO’ Manager Clifton Mitchell

Stuart KO kellett

Stuart KO Kellett, looking to ‘Smash Clifton’s head in” before Armageddon

In a massive surprise move, MDA promotions can reveal that their darts pro Stuart ‘KO’ Kellett will add professional boxing to his CV, as he takes on his manager, heavyweight Clifton Mitchell in a 9 round professional bout, on a full size fight ring set-up before the April Armageddon darts exhibition.

Stuart took his inspiration after watching Rocky 2 while on a pro tour event in Crawley after a good day on the oche, and started training immediately, putting aside his pot noodle for squat thrusts.

It is rumoured KO will weigh in 3 or 4 pounds heaver than his darts weight, at an imposing 8 stone 4.   He hopes that extra weight will help him “put Clifton on his arse“.

Since then the locals in Chester have often seen Stuart running through the city, and running up the winding steps of Chester Cathedrals great towers to increase his stamina.

It is rumoured KO will weigh in 3 or 4 pounds heaver than his darts weight, at an imposing 8 stone 4.   He hopes that extra weight will help him “put Clifton on his arse“.

Stuart promises darts and fight fans a proper fight, and during a press conference, a snarling KO said; “I’m going to rip his head off… let’s get it on right now!” and had to be restrained by Clifton’s security team.

UK Masters; A Massive Weekend for MDA’s Stuart Kellett

Stuart Kellett and Daryl Gurney

MDA professionals Stuart Kellett and Daryl Gurney at Minehead

MDA Promotions are proud to be able to say a massive WELL DONE to their player Stuart Kellett, who had a massive weekend at the first European Tour event of 2013, the UK Masters.  Stuart played many tough games against some of the PDC elite in front of a huge crowd in Minehead, as he won his way through to the FINAL, and picked up £10,000 in prize money, ensuring he qualifies for many events, including the 2014 world championships!

Rnd 1:  Stuart Kellett 6-0 Peter Wright

Round 2 continues on Saturday, with Stuart playing the winner of Colin Lloyd and Brian Woods.

Saturday March 9
Second Round

Colin Lloyd 1-6 Stuart Kellett

Another great win for Stuart – and a minimum £2,000 banked for the weekend already, which has meant 2013 has started with a bang now!  The Cheshire ace hit finishes of 138, 120 and 103 in taking the game’s first four legs, before punishing three missed doubles from Lloyd to win the fifth on double 16. Lloyd, who had landed two earlier 180s, hit a 174 and tops to get off the mark in the sixth, but missed two darts at double eight in the next as Kellett sealed the win on double two.

Third Round:  Dave Chisnall 5-6 Stuart Kellett

A magnificent scalp for KO, beating one of THE form players in 2012.  That see’s him bag at least £3,000, and he’ll take to the big stage again during the evening final session.  Kellett was 5-3 down before he came back, and in the process climbs to a minimum 59th place in order of merit and above Mark Dudbridge.

Quarter-Finals:  Stuart Kellett 6-1 Robert Thornton

Stuart puts in a massive performance and a 93.7 ave to win into the semi-finals!  Great finishing was too much for The Thorn, and it’s onwards and upwards for KO.  A huge £5,000 minimum won now!

Semi-Finals:  Stuart Kellett (93.47) 6 (11) 3 (93.7) Andy Hamilton

Stuarts top form continues, with a win against the Premier league star Andy ‘The Hammer’ Hamilton.  He hit a 122 checkout to take the final leg – some darts.  The final now beckons, and a cool £10,000 is in the bag!  That’s the world championship place for 2014 already secured what that money on his rankings!

Final:  Stuart Kellett 4-6 John Part

Crawley ProTour Weekend; UK Open and UK Masters Qualifiers

All three of MDA promotions players were in action this weekend just gone, as the PDC ProTour opened for 2013 with a Euro Tour qualifier for next month’s Minehead UK Masters, and two UK Open qualifier days.

UK Masters Qualifiers

Rnd 1:
Dean Winstanley 6-3 Michael Mansell
Stuart Kellett 6-2 Darren Whittingham
Daryl Gurney 6-0 Daniel Starkey

Rnd 2:
Andy Pearce 6-5 Dean Winstanley
Stuart Kellett 6-4 Kevin Thomas
Daryl Gurney 6-3 Matt Clark

Dean just failed to qualify for Minehead – which he was obviously disappointed about, but he will cheer on his team-mates Stuart Kellett and Daryl Gurney who both made the finals, a great achievement for Daryl in his first PDC event after winning his tour card.  Both Stuart and Daryl have won at least £500 through qualification.

UK Open Qualifiers – Day 1

Rnd 1:
Dean Winstanley 6-5 Darron Brown
Kevin Painter 6-1 Stuart Kellett
Jamie Caven 6-1 Daryl Gurney

Rnd 2:
Barrie Bates 6-3 Dean Winstanley

Dean played and lost to the gentleman Barry Bates, who was playing well – which no-one would take away from the man.  £200 won towards UK Open qualification.

UK Open Qualifiers – Day 2

Rnd 1:
Simon Whitlock 6-1 Dean Winstanley
Stuart Kellett 6-0 Brian Startin
Daryl Gurney 6-1 Ross Lowe

Rnd 2:
Stuart Kellett 6-1 Paul Rowley
Daryl Gurney 6-4 Sam Hamilton

Rnd 3:
Stuart Kellett 6-5 Dyson Parody
Adrian Lewis 6-2 Daryl Gurney

Rnd 4:
Stuart Kellett 6-4 Paul Amos

Rnd 5:
Brendan Dolan 6-2 Stuart Kellett

A great day for Kellett, with £600 won (and a place at Bolton almost guaranteed) , losing to the eventual finalist Brendan Dolan.  Unfortunately due to the completely open draw, Dean found himself up against one of the form players of the weekend, who put on an awesome show in winning.    Daryl took his first step towards UK Open finals qualification with £200 won.

New Website for MDA Managed Daryl Gurney

MDA Promotions can reveal the latest official website for one of their managed players; Daryl Gurney, who signed with us just after the world championships.  ‘The Dude’ Daryl came to many darts fans attention at Ally Pally this year, where he won twice and put in a 96+ average when he played Dave Chisnall.    Daryl also qualified for the UK Masters in Crawley last Friday – his first PDC pro tour event after gaining his tour card this year.  So he’ll get to play in the big tournament at Minehead in front of thousands of fans – not bad for his first weekend’s work!  Daryl also won £200 towards UK Open qualification – so he’ll be hoping to build on that in the coming qualifiers.

It’s early days, but the site is up and running; www.darylgurney180.co.uk  please bookmark and use to keep a track of Daryl’s progress within the PDC.

MDA Darts Management; Sign Daryl Gurney

Matt Ward of MDA, Daryl Gurney, and Clifton of Mitchell Promotions

Matt Ward of MDA, Daryl Gurney, and Clifton of Mitchell Promotions

MDA and partners Mitchell promotions are delighted to announce that Northern Irish youngster Daryl “Dude” Gurney has today joined our ranks.

We were extremely impressed with Daryl with his performances at the worlds and we are really looking forward to seeing how he performs on the pro tour in 2013.

Daryl impressed darts fans when he won his prelim vs Croatia’s Robert Marijanovic, then won another great game vs. the much more experienced Andy Smith at the recent World Championships (video below), and it was obvious to those watching he was a rare talent.

2012 also saw him win the England Masters, the Northern Ireland Open, and the Tom Kirby Memorial Trophy.

Daryl won his PDC tour card this year on day 2 of Qualifying school and is looking forward to his first year on the PDC pro tour.
