Hallam FM’s charity Cash for Kids have welcomed a new member to the team after darts hotshot Dean ‘Over the top’ Winstanley agreed to become a patron of the South Yorkshire charity.
Dean, ranked 26th in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and finished in the last 16 of this years PDC World Championship, grew up in Swinton and joins Ross the Boss Burkinshaw in supporting the charities fundraising activities and raising awareness of its funding, which is handed out to sick, disabled and disadvantaged children across South Yorkshire.
Last year, the charity raised over £1 million and helped over 62,500 children. Cash for Kids organise a variety of events including Win your Wedding, Mission Christmas and Superhero Day, which takes place on May 15.
Cash for Kids holds various grant rounds throughout the year so families, organisations and even other charities can apply for its funding.
Dean, 34, said: “As a proud father I have supported many charities and individuals and this exciting partnership gives me the opportunity to help Cash for Kids support many children across South Yorkshire. Fundraising is hard work, it’s music to my ears that all the money raised stays local. It is fantastic to see a grant fund support so many local children and causes, I can’t wait to get started.”
Allan Ogle, charity manager at Cash for Kids added: “We are incredibly excited to have Dean come and join our team. He is very passionate and brings a wealth of experience which will help support Cash for Kids in our mission to increase the quality of life of thousands of children across South Yorkshire.”
